The Magic of Mindfulness

July 07, 20264 min read

How are you feeling? Check in with your body for a moment and notice if you're holding tension anyplace. Do you feel heaviness in your chest, tightness in your shoulders or have trouble sleeping at night?

It doesn't have to be that way!

Read on to get some insight about how you may unknowingly be amplifying stress instead of enjoyment and how you can train your brain to think more intentionally.

So that you can improve focus and memory, decrease anxious feelings, improve your mood, sleep better and improve relationships!

Suffering is rarely in the present moment

Notice where you are in your mind the next time you feel stressed out, worried or sad.

It's very rarely the present moment that's creating the distress.

It's usually the thoughts, worries, and judgements you have about the past or the future!

Do you time travel?

Worry about the future

We all time travel in our minds. Do you ever find yourself stuck in a thought loop you can't shake?

Feelings of anxiety are usually based on worrying about something in the future. Maybe you think of worst case scenarios and worry about outcomes that may or may never happen!

Maybe you feel like you never have enough time in the day, and you think about what you need to get done.

Worry has a way of tricking you into thinking you're being productive or solving problems, when it really serves no purpose.

Sadness, shame or regrets of the past

Feelings of sadness or depression are usually rooted in the past.

You may find you are stuck revisiting an event in your mind, even if it was just a conversation, and wishing you had said or done something differently.

Rumination is repetitively focusing on past events and overthinking about mistakes.

Mindfulness Magic

So, if suffering is repetitive thinking about the past or worry about the future, what about the present moment?

Usually, the present moment is pretty good, sometimes really good, but you may not notice all the things that are wonderful right in front of you, because your mind is elsewhere.

When you practice mindfulness, you can amplify simple, everyday things that are good and experience less stress, worry and sadness!

What Exactly Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is purposely directing your focus and attention on the present moment.

It includes observing thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations and being aware, without judgement or automatically reacting.

There are so many benefits to a mindfulness practice!

It can lower your stress level, reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, improve focus and memory, enable you to sleep better, help you lose weight, and increase joy and gratitude!

Tune Into Your Senses

Practice directing your focus

One really easy but effective mindfulness practice involves tuning into your senses, one at a time, noticing and naming:

  • 3 things you see

  • 3 things you feel

  • 3 things you hear

This is a great way to break out of over-thinking and worrying, and quickly bring yourself back to the present moment.

You'll likely be surprised about some of the stuff you notice when you practice mindfulness, as we are so accustomed to tuning out so many things going on around us.

Mindfulness is so simple, yet so challenging

Smartphones, social media and our multi-tasking culture can wreak havoc on your nervous system, impacting your ability to focus, your weight, and can even affect your memory!

Making a mindfulness practice a priority truly enhances your life by amplifying the good things right in front of you in the present moment.

Hypnosis is an amazing complement to a mindfulness practice. It can help you be more intentional about where you want your focus to be.

As the saying going "Where your focus goes, energy flows." You end up seeing and experiencing more of what you focus on.

So take a minute, and think about what you really want to experience more of. How do you want to feel?

Check out "Mindfulness Magic," a hypnosis program designed to help you tune into the present moment, regulate your nervous system, and enjoy your life more!!
